Name That Baby

Greetings all!  Happy Friday.  I’m so looking forward to the weekend.  We don’t have much going on, so I’m hoping to test a few recipes as I’m getting behind. I must say having food aversions makes it tough to cook as often as I normally do.  My sweet tooth is “almost” gone, and meat still isn’t very appetizing.  Chicken and shrimp are pretty much the only ‘meats’ I’ll eat.

Anyhow, as a pregnancy update, things are going pretty good.  I’m 17 weeks today….

I’ve said it once, but second time around, the belly definitely comes in sooner!  Ladies with more than 1 baby….did you find the same??

The sickness is wearing off a lot.  A little nausea is still there, so I’m taking 1 diclectin before bed.  I tried to go off it about a week ago, and felt very sick the next day, so its obviously not time yet. The baby is rocking and rolling in there. Still can’t believe I felt movement at 14 weeks!  Its not as frequent yet, sometimes I feel something every other day.  I usually only feel it when its a flip.

Just as predicted when I was pregnant with Sienna, as soon as the 2nd trimester started, the back pain begun.  While we were on vacation, I put my back out….twice.  As soon as I got home, I went to my Chiropractor.  I’ve been going to the same one for years now.  He looked at my history after assessing me, and said the same thing is happening.  My left hip is rotating forward out of alignment, so that is the cause of the pain.  Since its happening again, he thinks there must be pre-existing condition that’s aggravated by being pregnant. I hurt my back pretty badly wakeboarding years ago, so that probably is the cause.  Since the belly starts to grow more in the 2nd trimester, the weight shift changes and throws me out of alignment.

I’m pretty bummed out, since I had wanted to get back into an exercise routine, since I rarely went to the gym in the 1st trimester as I was so sick.  But he recommends just walking and swimming. Nothing impact, and no weights. So, I’m trying to eat as healthy as I can to keep my weight under control.  I’m still going to get out walking as much as I can.  I’m not really a “pool” person, so not sure how often I’ll get around to swimming.

Next up is finding out what Baby Fretwell is!  My BIG ultrasound is on April 20th.

I have a strong feeling that its a boy, and the Chinese Gender Calculator also agrees.  It would be great to have one of each, but of course, all we want is a happy, healthy baby, no matter what it is. :)

We’ve been hashing out baby names, and here are some of our picks!

Beckham is the front-runner for the boys, but as for the girls, not sure what our favorite is.  I like Viviana (would be Viv) for short.  Brent likes Isabella (Izzy for short), but I always picture girls with dark features having that name, and we are both fair. He also likes Tessa (Tess for short).  We both tend to like names that aren’t super common. As you can tell with the girls, we also like names that end in “a”.

To celebrate finding out what the baby is, we’re doing a Gender Reveal Party.  We’re hosting it at a local restaurant.  We’ll be filming the entire event, so you all can watch the video and pretend you’re there too! Let just hope the baby cooperates a couple days earlier at the ultrasound!

Not sure if I’m forgetting anything (preggo brain!), but if there’s anything you want to know about the preggo stuff, leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to respond!

  • Danielle (Wyatt’s mom) :)

LOVE the name Beckham. My friend’s son’s name is Beckham Gage, and they call him “Beck”. If Nolan had been a girl, he would have been Isabella, Isa for short.

Hey Danielle ;) I love how we all refer to ourselves as our kids moms! lol. I totally think Becks would be the short-name. Your boys totally suit their names!

Thanks Crystal! Glad its not just me that thinks you show sooner with #2.

  • Shana

One name that I love which is similar to your girls names is “Nissa” and our son’s name is “Breck” which again is similar. No matter what you decide, it will fit perfectly the day it’s born.

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Those are unique names! Very cool! Yes, I’m sure it will all work out the day he/she is born :)

  • Stephanie

Yes I definatley found I showed quicker with my second and was sicker longer! (Sorry!) I love Beckham for the boy and my vote would be Viviana for a girl, so pretty! You look fantastic though can’t tell you’ve been skipping the workouts. Just wait till the summer we can hang by the pool.

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Well I’m glad I’m not as sick as you were!  I felt soooo bad for you!  I really hope we’re moved by summer. I totally want to hang out at the pool!!

On of my good friend’s name is “Vienna”, I think it it beautiful, and different. We call her “V” for short. I also like Brooklyn. I like Jackson for a boy. .  You can shorten to Jack. I think it is a handsom name and fun too. My son’s name is Landon, a bit different for the time (he’s 19) and he says he loves his name.
Of the ones you have listed I like Jake or Max, and Tessa.  Good luck, I hope you feel better soon. Can’t wait to find out if it’s a girl or boy!

We’re so excited to find out too!  I’m so impatient!  I love the name Vienna too!  We were on the fence between that and Sienna!

  • Suzriley1

You look adorable and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the names!!

For boys, I like simple though so I would totally vote for Luke and Max…since you asked:). My son is Liam and I just like the 3-4 letter names for boys!!

As for girls I like Tessa and Clara. I think they compliment Sienna’s really well. I agree with you on Isabella. A cute name but I live in Texas and the Hispanic culture uses that name often here so I see lots of darker complected people with that name.

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

We totally seem to like the shorter names for boys too, so Beckham is the longest. 1-2 syllables max.  Liam is cute too!  Ok, glad I’m not the only one that sees Isabella’s with darker features.  I think I’ll the ones I know about are ethnic or have really dark hair. Not sure I could picture a blond kid with that name!

I love Clara! That’s a beautiful name. And I’ve always loved Jake too :). But names are a personal thing – name your baby what you want because, as some friends who have had babies have told me, EVERYONE has an opinion on baby names, and it is easier to come up with reasons NOT to name a baby something than reasons to name them! You look adorable, I love your little bump! I was just on vacation for two weeks with my sister – she was 22 weeks when we got there and 24 weeks when we left and I swear I noticed a huge difference in her belly in just two weeks! And I could feel him/her (their ultrasound showed the baby with its legs crossed so no idea on the sex as of yet!). So exciting!

Names are totally personal hey. I feel sorry for teachers, as it makes them omit a lot of names! haha.  Oh so cool about your sister.  I know, 2 weeks can make a difference!  I need to get caught up on your blog. Since being back, I’ve been getting behind!

You’re absolutely gorgeous pregnant! You look fantastic, what you’re doing is obviously working. I hope your chiro can get that left hip and back pain fixed!

       Thank you!!  Me too :)

  • Sarah

Kristine, I frequently read your recipes and the such but was really grabbed by your infertility blog posts. You’re honesty was so appreciated- at times I felt I was writing your words. The once a month heartbreak- I could totally understand every emotion you wrote about. We now have a 9 month old son but getting pregnant after a m/c with our first pregnancy, took almost 2 years. So happy to hear you are now 17 weeks along. The first trimester countdown can be so scary, eh? Love your names and I look forward to hearing if it is a boy or girl!

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Aw, thank you Sarah! I’m so glad you were able to relate to that. Oh yes, I was pretty nervous the whole first trimester! The horrible sickness put my mind at ease a bit, as I didn’t have any with the miscarriage, and I know being “sick” is a normal thing for me, as I was ultra sick with my daughter too. If they only knew how much we worried about them before even being born! Ha!

Love the names and you are so cute pregnant.  Yes every pregnancy the tummy shows sooner.  I have 3 so each time I was in shock at how soon I showed.  Our 3 kids names are oldest boy Jayden and middle girl Ryann and then youngest boy Logan.  I had the hardest time with picking a girls name.  Ryann was going to be Payton, Teegan or Madison but man did Ryann suit her she is tiny tiny but tough as nails. lol  Cannot wait to here what you are having.  As for reciepies I would love to get a good healthy cake receipie without egg for my youngest.  So far all cake receipies without egg fall appart.  I have been using egg replacer from the whole food store but it really doesn’t hold it together.  Any ideas I may have asked before.  Terra

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Isn’t it funny how kids can totally match their name?! Love when that happens!

I’m sorry, I don’t have a good no-egg cake recipe. I’m surprised the egg replacer didn’t work, as that usually does the trick. Are you using gluten-free flour, oat flour or a wheat based flour? If you can use a wheat-based flour, that would work the best most likely, as the gluten will help bind the cake.

Check out the site http://www.livingwithout.com. They have some good allergy-free recipes on their site. Gluten free, egg free etc.

I got this book from Coles Books eons ago called ‘The Name Book’, and its great because it gives the history of each name, as well as the emotional characteristics of what that name energy carries.  Its by Le Rouzic.  I don’t know if its still around, but I have referred to it many times over the years….and its always right!

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Oh neat! I like seeing the meanings too. I’ll see if I can find it…thanks!

  • Dairyfreebetty

Such cute names!!  How exciting for you guys!  I love the idea of a gender reveal party!  Don’t know if you read Fitnessa’s blog but they did cupcakes with the icing in the middle either pink or blue – so cute!

Can’t wait to see the video!!

    • http://www.busybuthealthy.com Kristine Fretwell

Oh cool! Cupcakes are cute! A couple of girlfriends are amazing cake-makers, so they’re going to do the cake. Funny that they’ll know before me! Haha
