Favorite Find: Energy Bar Tasting Party!

Hey Everyone!  Hope your having a fabulous week so far!  I’ve got a really fun post for you today!

A short time ago, the people at CLIF and LUNA Bar were kind enough to send me some of their fabulous energy bars!  Have you ever tried them?

The Flavors: Chocolate Chip, Maple Nut, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Chocolate Almond Fudge, Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch, Black Cherry Almond, Peanut Toffee Buzz, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Carrot Cake

Flavors: Toasted Nuts & Cranberry, Nutz Over Chocolate, LemonZest

Since CLIF Bars have been around for a long time, I’ve tried some various flavors over the years.  They are a great bar to take on a hike, or immediately after a workout.  Since they are higher carb, and lower protein than some bars, a great way to eat them would be along side a protein shake, or even having half a bar before a workout.

I thought that rather than hoarding them all to myself (which believe me, I had thought about doing), I decided it would be a fun idea to do a tasting party!  Collect a group of my girlfriends to sample all these yummy bars!

Most of us had only tried a couple of flavors before.  A couple of the girls at the tasting party had mentioned they had bought the box of CLIF bars available at Costco, so they’ve only tried the flavors available in that box.

So last week, the date was set for the tasting party!  I cut up all the bars, and kept them with the wrapper so we knew what we were tasting!

We drank our tea and sampled bars!  It was fun!  Once everyone had a chance to try them all, I told everyone to start thinking about their favorite flavors!

Since we just had 3 LUNA bars to sample, I had everyone pick 1 favorite.

The WINNER was……Nutz Over Chocolate, it was everyone’s favorite!

Here was everyone’s Top 3 for the CLIF bars:

1. Oatmeal Raisin Walnut
2. Chocolate Chip
3. Crunchy Peanut Butter

Her Favorites were the same as mine!

1. Black Cherry Almond
2. Chocolate Chip
3. Crunchy Peanut Butter

1. Black Cherry Almond
2. Maple Nut
3. Carrot Cake

1. Maple Nut
2. Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch
3. Crunchy Peanut Butter

So I guess if we were going by majority,

the WINNERS are……….

Oatmeal Raisin Walnut

Black Cherry Almond

Crunchy Peanut Butter

There’s a lot of great products on the CLIF bar website.  I’ve yet to try the “Mojo” or the “Kid Z Bar” for my little one, as they are available in the US only right now.  But, with me being close to the border, I’ll definitely have to pick some up next time I’m down there!  Oh, and also the new LUNA Protein bars !  12 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and gluten free!

QUESTION!  What’s your favorite CLIF bar?

Nutz over chocolate is my second favorite Luna bar, but if you are a fan of thin mint girl scout cookies, the chocolate peppermint stick is heaven!! Tastes just like the cookies, but better for you! I haven’t tried any of the protein bars, any favorite flavor you’d recommend?

Oh do you mean the Builder Bars? Chocolate Peanut Butter is good I remember. Haven’t seen the chocolate peppermint stick, but it sounds fab!
